GMap

GMap is an attempt to bring the power of http://maps.google.com to the Danger Hiptop II device. Although we are limited in bandwidth, the device is well suited for map display with its large screen and internet connection. Why not view some screenshots.

Development on Gmap has stalled, and is not expected to continue.

Getting GMap

  • Binaries - the latest binaries for GMap can always be found at skdr (http://www.skdr.net/index.php?op=applications/show_view&application_id=285).
  • Source - Gmap is a SourceForge (http://sourceforge.net/projects/hipgmap/) project, named HipGMap. You can get the current state GMap via CVS.

Contributing

We need you! GMap has mostly been built by just a few people, we could use some help on fleshing things out. There's lot to do and we're eager to get more people involved. Browse the source code (http://sourceforge.net/cvs/?group_id=131259) a bit then start thinking about knocking out some of the todo list.

In order to submit code you'll need to create a sourceforge account (http://sourceforge.net/account/newuser_emailverify.php) then email nic (mailto:nicpottier@yahoo.com) or adam (mailto:abliss@gmail.com) to get yourself added as a developer.

You might also want to check out the rough architecture document before getting too deep into it.

  • I wanted everyone to see this and then this will get moved to the right place. This might help us out! Google Maps has released an API program! [1] (http://www.google.com/apis/maps/) I think this is huge news.
